Is it possible to construct a building in soil subjected by liquefaction potential?

Many people are afraid of constructing their buildings in area subjected by liquefaction potential and in wetland it may be swamp, marsh. What can you do when you find much water from underground at the site in the process of constructing your building? What decision you can take when site under construction are subjected a lot of water after your site investigation? This article describes some methods of improving soil properties.
Only solution of these problems is soil stabilization define as method of improving soil properties by mixing with other materials. For me I pick up Two main types of soil stabilization technics such that mechanical stabilization and chemical stabilization.

Mechanical stabilization is method refers to physical changing property of soil somehow, in order to affect its gradation, solidity, and other characteristics. Mat foundation and deep foundation are important way of resolving this problem. This is done after compaction of the soil. Compaction is one of the major types of soil stabilization which is the densification of soil by removal of air. This increases the strength characteristics of soils which increase the bearing capacity of foundations constructed over them.

Compaction also decreases the amount of undesirable Settlement of structures and increases the stability of slopes of embankments for this we use material like Smooth wheel rollers, sheep foot rollers, rubber-tired rollers, vibratory rollers and Vibroflot devices.

Chemical stabilization is method refer for adding addition materials to the soil that will physically interact with it and change its properties. These additional chemical materials are calcium chloride, sodium chloride and sodium silicate. For this chemical vapor pressure gets lowered, surface tension increase and rate of evaporation decreases. The freezing point of pure water gets lowered and it results in prevention or reduction of frost heave.  The other addition materials are cement, lime, bitumen, fly ash, or kiln dust. Most of the reactions are cementation and pozzolanic in nature, depending on the nature of the soil present at the particular site you are investigating.

All these method of soil stabilization are used all over the world. When you put them into consideration your land will be used properly and your building will be strong.

Considerations criteria for roof selection

Before starting a project of construction and deciding which house is right for you, it is critical to think about the functional design of a house, we have to think also about topographic condition, estimate cost, climatic condition, appearance and maintenance cost. For this the important part of house we consider is a roof. The roof defines the look of a house more than any other attribute, and the shape of the roof will determine how the roof protects the house from rain, wind, sun and snow.

I have been asking myself what types of the roof is best for the house whether is flat roof or pitched roof. I love this question because it gets at the logic that can be employed to see how a given house design will predict required maintenance and rain water drainage. We are going to see how we can select the type of roof according to different condition

Pitched roof are roof which have greater slope while flat roof is the roof of low slope, However All roofs should be sloped to drain. The roof selection between pitched and flat roof depends from different factor as listed below.
Pitched roof are less expensive to install and easy maintenance and also is taking low cost in repairing. This is because shingle systems are easier to install than membrane systems and shingles cost less. And also have good appearance which attracts people for outlook.
Pitched roof is good for water drain its means pitched roof increased drainage capacity. With severe region thunderstorms, it is important to have a roof that is able to handle large amounts of rain. In addition to the increased drainage that pitched roofs offer, they also afford you the opportunity to create more space inside of the house.

Only negative effect of pitched roof is very expensive due to additional building materials its means construction of pitched roof increase the cost of materials used. Pitched roofs also place more stress on a home’s foundation than flat roofs.
Generally, flat roofs are cheaper to install at the time of construction than pitched roofs. Additionally, flat roofs are significantly easier to walk on for maintenance and inspections Not only that, they are also of high quality and high performance, making them the cost-effective option. You can do many things with your flat roof.
Flat roofs, on the other hand, are more suitable for complex buildings or structures with various levels. This is because if you install a pitched roof on this kind of building, it would require a more complicated rafter system. Flat roofs are also more ideal for large spans since building rafters to support large spans are not only complex but also expensive and impractical.

Negative effect of Flat roofs have the tendency to retain water on the top of the home or building and stagnant water can damage not only the exterior of the structure but also the furniture and carpet inside once it finds a way to go down.
Finally according to the geographical location and the need of people, you would be wise to consider the relative benefits and drawbacks of various roof lines as you look at houses to buy.

Don’t consider the quality of house with external appearance

Many designers from developing countries put their much effort on external design rather than interior design, this attracts many people to look for interior features but they become disappointed because it is different from what their think before.

                                               External appearance
Most designing today is based on the actual structural appearance. One will perceive from the exterior rather than the functional use of the interior;but both must be taken into consideration.
Interior design is the process of shaping the experience of interior space, through the manipulation of spatial volume as well as surface treatment for the betterment of human functionality. Interior designers must be highly skilled in order to create interior environments that are functional and safe to the building for attracting the people to be comfortable.

It is not good to consider external appearance more than interior because people need to be comfortable day per day .We have to focus on people welfare rather than external appearance.
